Our robotics academy is dedicated to transforming education by focusing on STEM skills through the exciting world of robotics. Founded in 2009 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, by Santhakumar, Sathishkumar and KaliPrakash. Our academy has become a leading institution in STEM education.
This journey to founding of BigBodhi Academy started with a discussion among the 3 founders, who all have completed engineering , master’s in business administration and have worked for different corporate companies. They all had a common point of discussion whether the education they had is supporting their skill requirements which was needed in their working environment and did their education system helped in exploring new possibilities beyond regular jobs. They realized that the theoretical knowledge didn’t translate into practical skills in the professional world. After exploring the gap between their educational knowledge and professional skills required for the 21st century they understood the change has to come at early ages that is from school days before entering into the professional courses without exploring their potential skills. This research and exploration led them to come out with a learning center where students get inspired by experimental learning and they name it BigBodhi Academy where students Explore Engage and Establish their skills.
One of the biggest challenges in establishing the academy was the lack of awareness and exposure to robotics in India. Initial struggles included gaining entry into schools and raising awareness about the importance of STEM education. However, as more schools recognised the value of robotics, the academy grew, attracting numerous schools and students.
BigBodhi Academy has expanded its reach beyond Coimbatore to other cities in India and the USA. We have a 'Train the Trainers' program to ensure that our curriculum reaches students outside Coimbatore effectively. During the pandemic, we continued our commitment to education by conducting one-on-one online sessions.
